Green tips for reducing your carbon footprint

Wash Cycle

Washing clothes in cold water instead of hot water can save a significant amount of energy. According to a government energy rating website ‘about 80% of the energy in a warm wash is associated with heating water, cold washing uses less than one-quarter of the energy than warm washing’. The energy savings add up if you consider the number of times your household does a load of washing each week. Furthermore, if you have a lot of black/dark clothing (and let’s face it, who in Melbourne doesn’t?) it can help keep your black/dark clothing from fading over time too.
